Grand Finish For Team CRG at Dubbo Pro Tour Finals

press release 10 October 2016

What a fantastic weekend of Rotax Pro Tour racing for team CRG at Dubbo’s Lincoln County Raceway over the long weekend of 30th September to 2nd October.  There was incredibly memorable racing all the way through to the finals.

Thomas MacDonald finished with a stunning victory in the finals and 5th placing outright in series points in the Rotax Senior Max light. His performance was a fitting way to end competitive racing while he takes a break from the sport to spend time with his young family.

This weekend crowned the undisputed mini max series king - James Wharton of Shamick Racing, driving in the CRG Hero chassis and taking out first place overall in the series.  He was followed by Kai Allen who was also driving a CRG chassis to take out second placing in series points. What a great result from this pair.

In the DD2 Masters, Mark Flood (Maclaine Motorsports) came away from the weekend with another podium finish with a well deserved 2nd place. Mark had shown great pace from the very first practice session over the weekend, and drove in at 5th place in the series overall.

Rotax Heavy saw the return of Trent Moore who came back to the class after a three year break and made huge improvements over the weekend though a lack of race fitness made it a long final for him in the end. He was weary but not beaten and is keen on pumping up his performance for the next race meet. Brendon Hart again made the trip from New Zealand and was the fastest in the wet conditions on Friday but an engine problem took him out early in the final.

Zayd Tones was in the top three of the Junior Trophy and started practice with a charge. Though he had to start from the rear of the grid, he managed a very respectable 4th placing in the series overall. Next year he will be stepping up to the Junior Max class.

CRG Team’s Darren King who has been managing the drivers throughout the year was ecstatic with the results. “I was very proud to see Thomas win his last race for a while and blown away by the huge effort from everyone in the team to get these great results.

“The team’s next race will be Race of Stars on the Gold Coast where we will have the current KZ world champion Paolo De Conto racing under the CRG Australian banner as well as 20 other local drivers” he said.
