KA's Get Started in Karting Vidoes

  21 February 2017

Karting Australia has published an updated set of "Get Started In Karting" videos. The videos are designed to assist newcomers gain an understanding of the basics of kart racing.

The 16 videos (see list below) explain a variety of aspects of the sport, from purchasing a secondhand kart through required tools & safety equipment to basic maintenance & kart setup.

They are ideal viewing for the beginner or those looking at getting into the sport. If you have friends or relatives that might want to start karting, or have just bought a kart and want to learn a bit about it, point them to these videos!

Unfortunately, none of the videos address how to start out in the sport - ie, the steps involved in joining a club, acquiring a licence or how to "try before you buy" to sample a race kart prior to spending cash on equipment.

“When you’re first starting in the sport of karting it can be a very daunting thought to understand all of the idiosyncrasies of the sport. These videos have been designed to assist in breaking down the barriers for the newcomers,” said Karting Australia Chief Executive Officer Kelvin O’Reilly said in a KA statement.

“Hosted by one of the most experience people we have in our sport, Troy Hunt, the videos provide a great overview of what you require to go racing along with a lot of other aspects.

“They’re not designed to be overly technical, they cover the basic principals of our sport to get people started and on track with a minimum of fuss.”

  • The videos can be viewed on the KA website HERE, or in the list below.
