quick bits...

  • According to theage.com.au, work is about to start on a new motor sport facility - which is "expected to include multiple go-kart circuits". The $30 million Cardinia Motor Recreation and Education Park will be built at Pakenham, 55km south-east of Melbourne. The project has been in the local news on and off for several years. According to the report, it is a joint venture between Cardinia Shire Council and Drew Price Engineering. Anticipated date for opening is January 2016. Read more on theage HERE. (This project was in the news in 2009 - see an old KartSportNews report HERE. While still at Pakenham, it was to be located on a different parcel of land.)

  • The SKUSA Supernationals XVII, the spectacular international karting event that takes place in the car park of the Las Vegas Rio Hotel and Casino, will take place on November 20-24. This is the weekend after the Rotax Grand Finals in New Orleans. That's a mighty two weeks of karting in the US of A! Interestingly, the final round of the CIK-FIA KF Junior World Championship is scheduled for Bahrain on the same weekend as the Rotax Worlds...

  • Former Pro Light Australian Champion Jake Spencer will join the Kosmic Racing Australia team for 2013 - but he won't be driving. Spencer will be a mechanic for Peter Galvin's team, something he's already been doing for Rotax DD2 Masters racer Hamish Leighton. On the driving front, Jake will be having a crack at some state level Formula Ford during 2013.

  • Micro MAX and Mini MAX categories have been added to the program for the 2013 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals. Thirty-four Micro and 34 Mini Max drivers will be invited to compete. Due to international regulation, these classes will only be open to WKA and Canadian licensed drivers.

  • Italian TKart Magazine covered the WSK Masters Series round at LaConca on the weekend. Various videos have been posted on their YouTube channel. For the official results, click HERE. It seems Joseph Mawson had a bit of a disaster of a meeting, qualifying way back in the field and only participating in 2 of the 3 heats. More info as it comes to hand...
