Brueckner Wins FWT Mini MAX Title

press release 6 April 2013

Making the switch to the MRP-Birel America squad for 2013, Texan pilot Nicholas Brueckner started his season off right. Competing aboard a Birel chassis for the annual Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour (FWT), the up-and-coming driver would prove to be one of the top pilots in the cadet division throughout the series.

Competing in both the TaG Cadet and Rotax Mini Max classes, Brueckner would battle some of North America's best drivers under the age of twelve and go on to win the Rotax Mini Max title and accompanying invitation to be part of Team USA at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals (RMCGF) later this year in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"The Florida Winter Tour was great for me," expressed Nicholas after the final event weekend. "I was on track a lot in the past three months both testing and racing and it really helped me. I was happy to be able to win the Rotax championship and I knew going into the series if I was consistent, I would have a good shot. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way."

Always amongst the fastest driver in the Rotax series, Brueckner's championship came on the strength of some strong and consistent race results throughout the three weekend, six event series. Rarely running outside the top five, Brueckner would claim three second place finishes, a third and a fifth to claim the title. Always flexing his muscles during the heat races, Brueckner would gain the majority of his championship winning point tally there with two first and two second place results. Always a driver to have on the watch, the young and likable Texan has begun to come into his own.

Entering 2013 in his first full season in the Rotax Mini Max division, the 11-year-old reigning Rotax Grand Nationals Micro Max Champion was excited to get the season started. A new class, a new tuner, a new driving coach and a new chassis would have been the pitfall for any young driver, but Brueckner overcame them all and adapted quickly to his change in environments.

In the first five Rotax events of the series, the Enterprise Products Company of Houston, Texas sponsored driver never finished outside the top-six in a main event. Setting himself up for a shot at the title during the series finale at the Ocala Gran Prix facility in Ocala, Florida, the multi-time race winner would not disappoint. Testing throughout the week leading up to the series finale, Brueckner would come out swinging in Sunday's prefinal scoring the victory and pole position for the main event. In tricky conditions that went from dry to wet in mere seconds, the Florida Winter Tour race reported this post event:

"Doing the best under the testing conditions was Texan Nicholas Brueckner who put on a driving display that would have made Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher proud. Nicholas was so fast that he was catching lapped traffic faster than it could be black flagged off the race track. He handled it with ease and still managed a comfortable victory."

With teams having the opportunity to put on their wet weather setups for the day's final, Brueckner would start on the inside of the front row and quickly jump out to the lead. On the point for the majority of the race, Nicholas would fall back to second in the late stages, as he would choose championship points over the victory. Finishing ahead of his closest championship rivals, Brueckner would stand atop the podium during championship celebrations that evening to be honored as the 2013 Florida Winter Tour Rotax Mini Max Champion.

Not only did the up-and-coming motorsports star compete in Rotax Mini Max, Brueckner would also see action in the Vortex TaG Cadet class during the three Formula Kart weekends of the Florida Winter Tour where he would finish third in the overall point standings.
