INCOMING AKA BOARD GETS UP TO SPEED IN SYDNEY

The incoming Board of Directors of the Australian Karting Association Ltd and the National Executive spent their weekend in detailed briefings with key advisers and stakeholders in Sydney.

“We want to hit the ground running in September and getting the incoming Board thoroughly briefed before they formally take on their responsibilities is the next stage of our detailed transition plan,” said National President Craig Denton.

Four members of the Board, consisting of, Melissa Holzberger (Administration), Mick Doohan (Competition), Philip Smith (Finance) and Sam Moreton (Marketing), spent the weekend in briefings on the operations of the Association in the lead up to 1 September 2013 and the commencement of the new Board. 

During the two-day briefing, the Board members, who were accompanied by the National Executive, were presented to by a number of associates on the relationship between the AKA and a number of its service providers and collaborative partners.

CAMS President, Andrew Papadopoulos; TransWest Insurance Brokers General Manager, Peter Versluis; Thought Patterns General Manager, Scott Daley; and Karting NSW CEO, Steve King, were among those to brief the  Board.

“The meetings were straight down to the business of providing the incoming Board with a no-nonsense understanding of where the Association is commercially and operationally,” said National President Craig Denton.

“Overall, it was a very positive two days and I feel as though the Board members all walked away with a good understanding of the Association’s day-to-day operations, our strategic priorities and a solid basis for our next steps.”

For Administration Director, Melissa Holzberger, the weekend provided her with a  clearer picture of how the Association operates and its relationships with key stakeholders.

“The in-depth briefing provided to the incoming Board will assist us in effectively implementing governance structures for the new company and ensure the highest standards in terms of transparency and accountability” said Holzberger.

“I am very much looking forward to working with the other directors, who together have diverse skills, and a wealth of commercial and business experience to provide strong leadership for AKA’s future development of karting.”

Under the AKA’s strategic plan a new management structure for  AKA Ltd, the Board of Directors are scheduled to relieve the National Executive of their current roles on 1 September 2013.
