Change Of Australian Importer For MG Tyres

AKA media 13 June 2013

The Australian Karting Association (AKA) would like to advise its members of a change to the Australian importer of MG Tyres.

DPE Kart Technology (currently known as Drew Price Engineering) will become the importer of the product effective July 1, 2013, as such replacing Remo Racing.

The reassigning of the import rights incorporates the transfer of the tyre tender contract for Clubman and TaG Restricted until April 30, 2016 and the contract to supply the CIK Stars of Karting Series until 31 December, 2015.
The National Executive of the AKA has endorsed this transfer and the Board of Australian Karting Association Ltd has also been briefed on the transaction.

“The AKA was approached confidentially by Remo Luciani and Drew Price approximately two months ago advising that a possible transaction was being negotiated between the two parties in regards to MG tyres. However, they fully understood that any transaction involving an AKA tyre tender contract requires the endorsement of the AKA in order for it to proceed,” said AKA National President Craig Denton.

“Following communication with our legal advisors and approval by the National Karting Council, the AKA fully supports the reassignment of the AKA tyre tender contacts.”

Remo Racing and DPE have worked together to ensure that the tyre supply to the marketplace will not be affected in any way and will be a smooth transition.

“We have been working on downscaling our operation due to personal reasons. I decided to entrust the future of MG Tyres in Australia with DPE as I am confident that they are capable to continue to lead MG Tyres into the future of Australian Karting, DPE have our total support,” said Remo Luciani.

Drew Price thanked the AKA for their assistance in the handling of the transaction.

“We appreciate the co-operation of the AKA with this important negotiation. MG Tyres are well established in the Australian market as the benchmark for quality, consistency and value and DPE is honored that Remo Racing and MG Tyres are providing us with the opportunity to represent this highly trusted brand name,” said Price.

The MG AZ (Red) tyre will remain at the contract recommended retail price of $235.00 per set and the MG FZ (Yellow) tyre at a recommended retail price of $255.00 per set.
