Triple Stars of Karting Podium For CRG

press release 19 June 2013

CRG Australia secured a triple podium during Round Three of the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Series in Geelong last weekend.

In his first drive aboard a CRG Road Rebel chassis, Joey Hanssen was victorious in the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) category – his second consecutive round win.  Shamick Racing’s new recruit spent the weekend adapting to the characteristics of the CRG chassis before crossing the line ahead of Queenslander Kel Treseder.

“I think we can be very happy with this result and we’re now leading the championship,” said Hanssen.

"I only arrived at Shamick Racing a few days before the event so there was not allot of time to prepare. While I was very comfortable in the Road Rebel from the start I’m confident that we can find more speed again at the next round."

Finishing third behind Hanssen was former series champion Matthew Wall in his CRG Road Rebel.  Wall enjoyed a consistent weekend moving him to third in the championship standings as he chases the John Pizarro Perpetual Trophy for the second time.

In the Pro Light (KF) ranks, unheralded South Australian Ben Edwards broke through to claim his maiden podium finish with third place behind Pierce Lehane and Brock Plumb.

“It is magnificent to see Joey come into the CRG team and be on top of the podium in his first event with us,” said CRG Australia’s Darren King.

“We’ve been continually developing the set-up of the Road Rebel chassis over the past few months with our Gearbox drivers and the results are showing. We now have three KZ drivers in the top four of the series.

“Ben (Edwards) has been plagued with engine issues all year so it is good for him to be able to finally show his true speed. “

The CRG Australia team will be back in action this weekend when the Rotax Pro Tour fires up at the Ipswich Kart Club in Queensland.
