Stewart Set For Pro Tour After Speedcar Success

press release 19 June 2013

Canberra’s Michael Stewart is set to take on some of the country’s best Karters this weekend as the business end of the season approaches for the 2013 Rotax Pro Tour, with the series heading to Queensland’s Willowbank Raceway complex, and the first ever Pro Tour under lights.

The season has already been successful for Stewart both in the Rotax Pro Tour in the DD2 category and in the NSW Speedcar Series, where the young gun was awarded rookie of the year, a true testament to his success over the summer on dirt.

"After witnessing the Champions that have been awarded the rookie of the year in the past, it has instilled me with so much confidence for the future.

"It was a great season, a lot better than we first thought my first year would turn out to be, the seasons highlights have to be my Boxing Day win, being awarded the rookie of the year and finishing third place at the 50 lap Speedcar Classic in Sydney,” Stewart said.

Following another successful event at the last round of the Pro Tour held in Geelong, Michael is now looking to capitalise on this performance and again test himself against some of the most accomplished drivers in Australia, on his charge towards a seat at the 2013 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals held in New Orleans in November.

"I’m really looking forward to racing at Ipswich this weekend, the night event will be an awesome addition and I’m full of confidence after my podium in Geelong.

"This weekend is going to be a tough weekend; it seems like each round the competition gets harder and harder.
"With only two rounds of the Pro Tour left and the Rotax Nationals in September, the race for seats at the Rotax World Finals is starting to heat up, it’s going to require by best driving to make it there, it’s a truly amazing event after getting a taste of it in 2011 in Dubai,” Stewart concluded.

Round six of the Rotax Pro Tour will take place at the Willowbank International Raceway, Queensland from June 21-22.
