Queensland Double for Rotax Pro Tour

press release 20 June 2013

The final two rounds of the Rotax Pro Tour are set to take place in the sunshine state, and as a large array of drivers represent Queensland; they will be seeking to gain a home state advantage and a boost in their Rotax rankings points.

Many drivers from across the sunshine state use the well-recognised Ipswich facility throughout the year to test their skills, and many associate it with their development as a driver. The Ipswich event spells a busy period for the Pro Tour, with the final round taking place in Gympie in just three weeks’ time. With the Rotax Nationals taking place in Melbourne in September, all eyes are on the final few rounds as the rankings close up and Team Australia New Orleans positions are on the line.

Lane and Trent Moore are two drivers who have been brought up around the Ipswich track which is located centrally near Queensland Raceway, which plays host to the V8 Supercars each year. The brothers, who are both members of the club and compete in Rotax Heavy, have commonly been rivals behind the wheel, and this spurs the two on as the intensity heats up around them.

“It's very competitive in our tent with my brother always being fast, we are always testing ourselves against each other and this of course improves both of our driving at every event,” Lane Moore said.

This event is the first time the Rotax Pro Tour has been run under lights, so the Moore brothers are just two of the many locals who will use their experience from club events held at Ipswich in similar conditions to their advantage.

“Trent and I are really looking forward to running under the lights, we are hoping to have a good round to bounce back from a couple of unfortunate results in previous events, with it being at Ipswich we should be on top of it,” Lane Moore added.

Since the beginning of the 2013 calendar year, the Rotax Pro Tour has been witness to another true family affair which is now spread across three categories. Former V8 Supercar driver Steven Ellery, and his two sons, Dalton (Rotax Light) and Tristan (DD2) are all becoming increasingly competitive in their selected categories, and as with the Moore brothers, the trio will be calling on prior experience at the Ipswich track.

“Racing under lights creates a new energy for karting in Australia, it shows that drivers are capable of driving with any conditions, it is interesting coming around the final corner of the roll-up laps and seeing where everyone is looking to get a jump on the start is something special,” Tristan Ellery said.
