Karting News Briefs

  3 July 2013

Lots of karting stuff from around the world...

  • Steven Richards gained a new appreciation for top level karting during a sponsor event in Bundaberg after the Queensland Championships. The former Bathurst winner took to the track with Kel Treseder in KZ2 Gearbox karts. More detail and photos on speedcafe HERE. Richo raced Junior and Senior National and Senior Clubman early in his racing career.

  • The Supreme Court issued an order on Monday that the election of Officers of the Canberra Kart Club back in May is to have no effect, and that the Officers elected in September last year (Bruce Otter, Robert Rosin, Ian Watt, Kylie Otter & Tony Prendergast) continue to hold their position. However, the court also directed the club to not undertake any management of the club until the conclusion of a General Meeting in July where a motion of no-confidence in the Executive Committee will be voted on. In the meantime, the track remains closed and no new memberships are being taken.

  • The Queensland Government has a Young Athlete Assistance Program where successful applicants can receive financial assistance of $200 to help cover the cost of travel and accommodation for an eligible championship. The program is only open to Queensland residents under the age of 18 who live more than 200km from the venue of competition. More detail on www.nprsr.qld.gov.au HERE.
