press release 17 July 2013

The CIK-FIA Championship for KF and KFJ closes in Ortona (Italy) this weekend, from July 17th to 21st, on the Circuito Internazionale d'Abruzzo. Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic-Vortex) and Lando Norris (FA-Vortex) are the leaders in KF and KFJ entering the round. The first round was run a little more than a month ago in Alcaniz, in Spain.

KF and KF Junior ready for the showdown

The CIK-FIA European Championship, this year, has got two rounds in schedule, with the score assigned after every final race of each event. On the 1,600 meters of the Italian circuit, near the Adriatic coast, the decisive races of the Championship are taking place on the last racing day, Sunday 21st July.

In KF Nielsen is the driver to beat

The Danish Nicklas Nielsen (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) arrives in Ortona as the leader of the category, thanks to his brilliant victory in the first round of Alcaniz. The closest pursuer is his fellow countryman Christian Sorensen (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), who, in Spain, finished ahead of the Dutch  Max verstappen (CRG-TM-Vega). A great and thrilling fight is expected from these drivers, even though there are other drivers behind them who can aim at a big result: the Polish Karol Basz (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), the Italian Felice Tiene (CRG-Parilla-Vega) and the French Dorian Boccolacci (Energy-TM-Vega).

Norris on the run in KF Junior

The English Lando Norris (FA Kart-Vortex-Le Cont) confirms his great shape. This year, in the KFJ category, he is definitely the greatest surprise: he leads the European championship after the victory in the first round in Spain. Also the Belgian Matteo Raspatelli (Tony Kart-Parilla-Le Cont) is a big surprise: he placed second in Alcaniz and is second in the championship. Good chances also for the Dutch Martijn van Leeuwen (Zanardi-TM-Le Cont), who aims at something more than the third place. In KFJ, too, it is worthy keeping an eye on all the drivers who follow in the current standings: the Canadian Parker Thompson (Energy-TM-Le Cont), the Russian Robert Shwartzman (Tony Kart-TM-Le Cont) and the French Bryan Elpitiya (Energy-TM-Le Cont).

Potty is the leader of the Academy trophy

The Belgian Maxime Potty leads the pack of the young drivers participating in the  CIK-FIA Academy Trophy. Ortona hosts the second out of three rounds of the championship. Behind him the Spanish Arturo Melgar and the French Gautier Becq, all on Parolin-Fim-Vega.
