Some images and news from Friday practice at the 2013 Rotax Nationals.
As per Thursday, Friday's track conditions were pretty good, until rain arrived late in the day. It only affected the DD2 final practice where several, including front runner Troy Woolston, fired off the track after just a few spits.

Above & Below: First casualty of the weekend, the DD2 Masters Praga of NSW's Trevor Whitby. In just the second run this morning, he slammed into one of the poles for the mesh fence on the back straight, writing off his chassis and even breaking the brake disc. Somehow, Whitby didn't break his leg. He was back at the track in the late arvo, but now with crutches and a beer.

Above: Pierce Lehane didn't bother with either of the two final practice sessions for Rotax Light (where transponders were required), happy with his pace and not wanting to wear out the gear. "Or risk getting in a crash with all those karts out there" he told us. New tyres are fitted for carby session tomorrow as a warm-up for qualifying.
