Juniors Aiming High

press release 4 September 2013

The Juniors category is the major proving ground for any young racer hoping to make their mark in the Australian Speedway scene. This weekend up to fifteen young drivers will try and secure themselves a green number one plate at the 2013 Aussie Forklift Repairs AKA Australian Speedway Karting Titles.

One guy who is yet to put his name on the Australian Titles winners list is Daniel Sayre. Daniel has consistently been the man to beat in this class, he is a multiple times state champion, however the curse of the Australian Titles has always struck. Daniel currently leads both the Juniors and overall Club Championship. This is his best shot at claiming his maiden Australian Title, but if he wants to claim glory he’s going to have to overcome one of the strongest Juniors field in years.

Younger brother Luke Sayre has been giving his older brother a run for his money. Luke has come on strong at the right time of the year and is now staring down a Juniors crown. Like his older brother, Luke is yet to claim Australian Title success; he was third in last year event and is hoping to go two better this year.

Same as Rookies, it’s going to be a Sayre verse Geering battle with Matthew Geering. Matthew has had a consistent year, he is currently NSW #3 and is using the experience he had gained to try and claim a maiden title.

Andrew Beattie knows what it takes to win an Australian Title, back in 2011 Beattie claimed the Rookies green plate. Last year Beattie backed it up with a second in the Juniors class. Can he go one better in 2013?

Marcus Dumesny, Jake Donaldson and Lachlan Caunt will all be guys to watch out for. Dumesny and Donaldson both sit second and third respectively in the Juniors Champion. Caunt is currently NSW#2 and if all the cards can fall his way he maybe able to steal the top spot when it matters most.

Young lady racers Kayla Green, Taylor Riedtyk and Taylor Coghlan will all be hoping to take the title off the boys. Each one of them have been improving as the season progress and may just be able to score an emphatic win.

Racing will get underway at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday, entry is $5 for adults and all canteen facilities will be open. You will find Nepean Raceway on Rickards Road, Castlereagh.
