event press release

Surprisingly Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm) got the KZ2 title off Dante's hands, Darras (Tony Kart-Tm) easily won the KF2 title, Alessio Lorandi (Tony Kart-Parilla) got the KF3 title for the second time. 60 Mini sub-judice.

The Italian CSAI Karting has offered a lot of emotions in all categories during this season. The end came after the fifth round held in Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia) and has been really exciting with several title contenders fighting throughout the weekend and a good number of drivers on track that made the championship reach the record figure of 826 participations in the 5 rounds of the calendar, that is a 30% increase compared to last year.

The result of KZ2 has been quite exciting as only the last final in Castelletto decided the winner of the category with Alessandro Giulietti (Intrepid-Tm) surprisingly champion again - for the second time in a row - as he managed to get the position off the leader until Castelletto Massimo Dante (Maranello-Tm).

The outcome of the other categories as been as thrilling too. In KF2 the French driver Julien Darras on Tony Kart-Tm managed to get the title thanks to a very close third place in the first Finale and Alessio Lorandi on Tony Kart-Parilla confirmed himself as KF3 champion for the second year in a row thanks to a win in the first of the two Finals of Castelletto.

The winner of 60 Mini is still to be officially decided as the title is virtually in Nicola Abrusci's hands (Tony Kart-Lke) due to the higher score. The title is still sub-judice though until a decision of the Appeal Court will be made on the appeal presented by Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-Lke) in consequence of the victory he was stripped of in Siena. Should the tribunal agree with Fusco's argumentations, he would be the champion, otherwise Abrusci will have the clearance to start his celebrations.

ALESSANDRO GIULIETTI IS THE KZ2 CHAMPION

A surprising end for KZ2. Massimo Dante, on Maranello-Tm, has always been leading the championship since the beginning but the driver from Trento was involved in the melee of the start and payed it off in the final round of the championship. In race one Dante has been penalyzed by 6 seconds due to an incident with Francesco Celenta (Energy-Tm) when he was eying the finish line in the leading group, while he has been penalyzed by 10 seconds due to jump start in the second final. Giulietti and Celenta managed therefore to get back among the title contenders in the final sprint as they respectively won one final each. The championship ended therefore in favour of Giulietti who totaled 3 more than Dante and 7 more than Celenta. Other protagonists were Massimo Mazzali (Art-Lke), on race-1's podium together with a very good Marco Zanchetta (Maranello-Tm), Luca Tilloca (Energy-Tm) who has always been among the front runners, Giacomo Pollini (CRG-Tm) on the podium in race-2. Credit also for the International champion Dorian Boccolacci (Energy-Tm) who has been among the most competitive drivers.

KZ2 Championship Standings: 1. Giulietti points 142; 2. Dante 139; 3. Celenta 135; 4. Mazzali 103; 5. Pastacaldi and Piccioni 94.

JULIEN DARRAS GETS KF2'S TITLE

In KF2 Darras clinched the title thanks to a third plpace in the first final, behind Marco Maestranzi (Top Kart-Tm) and Stefano Cucco (Intrepid-Tm). The latter won an incredible final-2 leading the excellent British driver Callum Ilott (Zanardi-Tm) and Gianni Vigorito who was successfully back to KF2 with Exprit. Very strong runs also for Diego Bertonelli (Zanardi-Tm) and Luca Corberi (Kosmic-Vortex). In race-2 Darras obtained the seventh place, but what counted for him was the title.

KF2 Championship Standings: 1. Darras points 206; 2. Maestranzi 152; 3. Moretti Marco 136; 4. Ilott 134; 5. Corberi 127.

ALESSIO LORANDI AGAIN IN KF3

The championship duel between Alessio Lorandi and Leonardo Pulcini - the two that have been protagonists on the international scene too - ended in favour of Lorandi thanks to a win in the first Final. A success that gave him the mathematical certainty of the title for the second year in a row. On the podium of race-1 were also the European Champion Lando Norris (FA Kart-Vortex) and the surprising Russian Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart-Vortex) in force at Ward Racing, while Pulcini ended fourth. Vartanyan got also the victory in race-2 when he led the Venezuelan driver Mauricio Baiz (Exprit-Vortex) and the American Logan Sargeant (FA Kart-Vortex), with the other Russian Robert Shwartzman (Tony Kart-Tm) fourth after an early lead; Lorandi ended fifth. In race-2 Pulcini did not get to the start but the duel between Lorandi and Pulcini will continue next November 23rd in the Junior World Championship in Bahrein.

KF3 Championship Standings: 1. Lorandi Alessio points 218; 2. Pulcini 194; 3. Garofano 106; 4. Lorandi Leonardo 93; 5. Florescu 90.

60 MINI WAITING FOR THE COURT'S RESPONSE WITH ABRUSCI VIRTUAL CHAMPION

The duel for the title of 60 Mini also involved mainly two drivers: the Pugliese Nicola Abrusci (Tony Kart-Lke) and the driver from Naples Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo-Lke), but Francesco Pagano (Top Kart-Lke) and Leonardo Marseglia (Top Kart-Parilla) trying to slide in the battle. In the first Final Fusco managed to get back in the title hunt winning the race ahead of Pagano, Marseglia and Abrusci fourth. In the second Finale the brilliant Malaysian driver Mussyaffa Muizzuddin (CRG/Hero-Lke) and the Czech Lukas Podobsky (Birel-Parilla) were under the spotlight with Marseglia again as the trio occupied the top three positions of the podium. Rasmus Lindh ended fourth, Abrusci fifth while Fusco was stuck in the back ending only eighth and missing to catch Abrusci by 4 points. Now the response of the Court of Appeal regarding the race of Siena will officialize the name of the category title winner.

60 Mini Championship Standings (sub-judice): 1. Abrusci points 170; 2. Fusco 166; 3. Pagano 159; 4. Marseglia 124; 5. Muizzuddin 115.
