keeping abreast of karting news...

  • It's the season for end-of-year award ceremonies at kart clubs around the country. KartSportNews is inviting your club to submit a list of the prize winners and some photos from awards day/night to let the rest of the karting world know who the champions are in your club! We're always happy to publish karting news from any kart club in the country, it's just a case of someone emailing the details and photos to

  • Queensland teenager Jaden Partridge has designed and constructed a hand control kit for disabled drivers. It was a Year 12 project he worked on for 11 months and was used on a kart at Lismore a couple of months back (see video below). The kit allows drivers suffering from paraplegia or limited or no function in one arm and one leg to drive a race kart legally and safely. Utilising components that allow a kart's existing brake master cylinder to be used, it includes all the pices necessary such as hand controls, lengthened cables, cable holders, leg straps and nassau panel mount. Symmetrically designed hand controls and quick interchange make it suitable for most kart brands.

  • Have you heard of Gerhard Noack? Nah, didn't think so. But he's the guy who discovered Michael Schumacher and Sebastien Vettel at the local kart track and initially helped both young Germans on their way in motorsport. There's an article and interview with him on the CNN site HERE.

  • The 2014 NSW Southern Stars Series will run over 5 rounds, commencing at Griffith in February and concluding at Grenfell in October. Each round is a two-day affair and will include a qualifying session, three heats, pre-final and final. The round result will be determined by total points accumulated over all races, not just the 11km final. Series regs are on the Karting NSW site HERE.

  • Here's a feel-good story on KartBook - forum member 'Mark Zed' rebuilt a Top Kart/Rotax with the help of several individuals and organisations. The kart was handed over to wheelchair-bound owner Matthew Brumby on Friday, who then got behind the wheel at Silhouette Karts in Melbourne. Read the post (with more pics) and comments HERE.
