Preview: Tiger Kart Club Western Cup Round 1

On Saturday 8th Feb the Tiger Kart club will open the WA Karting season with the first round of the Western Cup series for 2014.

The CIK standard Wanneroo Kartway was completely resurfaced and rebuilt last year and the first open meeting under lights since the refurbishment should prove to be one of the biggest events for the WA karting year.

The event also incorporates round 1 of the FMA WA KZ-3 series with an unbelievable 44 karts entered completely maxing track capacity limit. These guys will be putting on a show unlike anything ever seen in WA or possibly even Australia.

WA’s best drivers such as defending champion Blake Mills and 2012 champion Simon “Gumby” Gwilliam will be under pressure from the likes of Jake Klarich, Daniel Curry, Flat Out’s BD Souter Dawson, and the super professional Hayden Patrizi and Todd Fiore.

Some new names in the series that should also be right in the mix will be Jamie Light and multiple national champion Brad Fitch, it will be fascinating to see these 2 drivers on track in the KZ3 karts.

The Western Cup state series is run over 4 rounds during the 2014 season and is the state’s premier series event backed and supported by Karting WA. It’s real test of skill on 4 different tracks around the state and the winners get the honour of using the coveted black plate as defending champions.

The event caters for almost every class so there are no excuses for not entering and being part of this huge event, what a way to kick off 2014!!

Entries close 1st Feb so get cracking on the CMS system and pre enter now the club’s web site has details on Tuesday night practice sessions in the lead up to the meeting check out the dates and info HERE.
