A bumper field of 90 drivers has entered the first race meeting in Tassie for 2014.
Launceston Kart Club's Promotional Officer Stuart Lee has confirmed that the feature class of Open Performance has attracted a class field of 16 of Tasmania’s best drivers.
With a grid that includes 8 Super 200 twins, 4 KZ shifter karts, 2 Twin Clubmans and a couple of F100 singles the racing is sure to be hectic.
Local Zane Wyatt is still to confirm whether he will run his newly acquired Kosmic KZ or his trusty Demon Super 200 twin, but whichever he chooses he will be in a battle that’s for sure. Recently crowned State Clubman Light champion Daimon Shelton is one of the hot shoes who will be at the pointy end, if he is able to get the parts to complete his new Energy KZ in time.
Also competing is local sprintcar ace Jamie Bricknell who also will be driving a KZ this time in the form of a CRG. The Super 200 Twins, which will be all out to confirm themselves as the quickest open performance karts in Tassie, will be led by local Steve Wrigley and coastal drivers Jade Waddington and Jake Rice.
With the temperature heading towards 30deg on Saturday it’s sure to be hot action on and off the track.
