ART GP Australia Commits To Pro Tour & CIK

  17 January 2014

The ART Grand Prix Australia factory team will commit to both of the major Australian karting series in 2014, running drivers in the CIK Stars of Karting Series, plus the Rotax Pro Tour. The team will also have representation at the Brian Farley Memorial and various AKA State and National Championships.

Having dabbled in CIK at the end of last year, the ART team will expand into all three of the CIK Stars of Karting pro classes. Aaron Borg will move into the Pro Light (KF) category while John Grother will remain committed to the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) championship. Drivers for the Pro Junior (KFJ) class are currently being finalised.

Having debuted the TS-01 chassis in the 2013 Rotax Nationals at Puckapunyal, the team will have it's first season in the highly competitive Rotax Pro Tour series.

"This marks a significant expansion of the ART Grand Prix Australia operation" the team informed KartSportNews.

"It sees the team become more in line with the other worldwide ART Grand Prix dealers who currently compete in various Rotax championships.

"Also, for the first time in its history, the ART Grand Prix European Team has formed a full time Rotax operation, which will compete in international Rotax championships such as the Euromax Challenge, providing a unique gateway for Australian drivers wanting to compete in international Rotax races with a factory squad."

The ART Grand Prix Australia operation was formed in the middle of last year. Winning the TaG Light NSW State title on debut with driver Aaron Borg, was the first of many successes in the short 2013 campaign, with further wins in TaG Light and podiums in KZ2, Clubman and Leopard Light.

The Australian factory team is run by Porsche Carrera Cup driver Duvashen Padayachee.

“The 2014 season couldn’t come soon enough” team principal Padayachee said.

“After the success we had is such a short period of time in 2013, I am looking forward to having a solid season in 2014. We have a better understanding of the chassis and racing operations after last season and having drivers already committed to the major series such as CIK SOK and Rotax Pro Tour will put our team in a great position for 2014. I am hoping our operation can open doors for Australian drivers wanting to race internationally.

"It is also great to have majority of our sponsors and partners return for 2014 and also welcome our new sponsors Petrol Eyewear Australia and AisleMaster”.

ART Grand Prix Australia also announced that Rental Corporation, The Woodlands Beauty Spot, FIJI Water, FreeMinds and All Road Management have remained on board as sponsors for the Australian factory team.

Sydney based premium eyewear company, Petrol Eyewear Australia, have also joined the team as a major sponsor of driver Aaron Borg, with John Grother retaining his iconic Chupa Chups sponsorship for 2014.

Hurst Racing Engines will once again be the teams preferred engine builder for all classes, while International Karting Distributor (IKD) will remain as a major racing parts supplier for 2014.
