Change To Comer SW-80 Ignition

DPE communication 6 February 2014

Since DPE has been the importer of Comer engines, which is more than 14 years, the engines have been equipped with an ignition from Bosch-Ducati KDT. Last year, Bosch advised Comer that production of this ignition would cease. Due to this decision by Bosch, Comer were forced to change the ignition fitted to Comer SW-80 engines.

The new ignition system is called a Selettra.

Comer advised there was no difference in performance between the old and new systems and independent testing in Australia was provided to the AKA which confirmed this.

On the weekend of Feb 1 & 2, 2014 the AKA approved the homologation of the Selettra ignition for Comer SW-80 engines. The AKA is in the process of updating the Comer technical rules and regulations to accommodate this change.

Engines:

We have a small number of Comer SW-80 engines with the Bosch-Ducati ignition but in the very near future, all Comer SW-80 engines delivered will have the new Selettra ignition.

Ignition systems:

We have no stock of the Bosch-Ducati ignition systems left so the Selettra ignition system will be supplied effective immediately.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact DPE.
