IAME: Two Great Podiums At Winter Cup

press release 4 March 2014

At the 19th edition of the famous Winter Cup, the race that sanctions the beginning of the Karting season, IAME is at the start with 17 drivers, spread in the 3 international categories: KFJ, KF and KZ2. Great 2nd in KZ2 and wonderful podium also in KFJ.

KZ2
Bas Lammers, at his debut with the Formula K team, confirms the excellence of the IAME Screamer engine with a race at the highest level. In a crescendo that sees him in 14th position, after the combination of the qualifying sessions, then 5th after the qualifying heats and 3rd in the pre-final, the super-fast Dutch driver ends the race week-end on a well-deserved 2nd step of the podium.

KF
Martijn Van Leeuwen (Zanardi/IAME) is at the top all week-end long: 7th after the time qualifying, he enters the pre-final in 4th place. Despite a contact, he is able to finish 8th, then in the final he jumps in 3rd position after only 4 laps from the start and takes the lead at half way to race end. The Belgian drivers defences many attacks, but in the end he slips down to the 5th place.

Well done also for Diego Bertonelli: 2nd after the time qualifying and 8th after the qualifying heats. Too bad at the start of the pre final he loses many positions and is not able to recover: 20th in the pre final and 24th in the final. Kevin Metzner (Team TB Motorsport) is also worth of mention: after some difficult time qualifying, he gets better in the qualifying heats and is able to access the repĂȘchage for the finals.

KFJ
Lorenzo Travisanutto (PCR) and Gabriel Sereia (Team Birel Motorsport) demonstrate their top level: 10th and 9th after the time qualifying, they then switch their position in the pre-final. In this race, after recovering 15 positions thanks to 3 victories in the heats, Daniel Ticktum (Zanardi Strakka Racing) comes back from behind the lines. In the final phase Travisanutto keeps up: in pre final he fires 7 positions and finishes 2nd; in the final he confirms his performance and conquers the 3rd step of the podium, followed by Ticktum. Ben Lessennes  (VDK Racing) makes a big jump forward: in the pre final he climbs 8 positions and finishes 9th, then in the final he comes right behind the top ones. Some bad luck for Sereia: after a good start, he finishes the final in 15th position.

The other IAME drivers are also worth of mention: Marta Garcia and Luca Legeret (both Strakka Racing), Ulysse De Pauw (VDK Racing), Kashen Theogran Naikcer (Zanardi) and Azedo Yohan (Birel), all in for the repĂȘchage for the finals.
