History On The Horizon At Kurri Kurri Speedway

History is set to be made this weekend for the New South Wales Speedway Kart Club (NSWSKC) when they open up a new chapter in the clubs history by racing at Kurri Kurri Speedway for the Kurri Cup.

Back when the club was formed in 1991, the first meetings were held in Canberra before racing in Picton and at Fairfield Showground. Since 2002, the club has called Nepean Raceway home, but this Sunday, the club embark on a new journey by racing at Kurri Kurri Speedway.

With drivers competing from both the NSWSKC and Central Coast Speedway Kart Club (CCSKC), many teams, drivers and families are expected to attend the event.

There is a lot of excitement around the event from all involved within the club. Club President Rodney Shute said, “The committee is very excited to be a part of history with the first meeting being held at Kurri for Speedway Karts.”

“I would like to thank all the members and competitors from both the NSWSKC and CCSKC for their patience and support on giving this event a go.”

Although the club has suffered three wash-outs in a row and has not yet completed an entire day of racing, in many ways, it’s a momentous moment to start the season off at Kurri. It will also prove to be an important day for drivers who will have to opportunity to get their eye in on the track and get an idea on set up, as they will be travelling back to the venue in June for the State Titles.

The day will be proudly supported by ST Signs and Designs who will be the naming right sponsor of the event. For any of your signwriting and design needs, make sure you contact the guys on (02) 9838 9793. Their office can be found on Bearing Rd, Seven Hills, NSW, u2/13.

Racing kicks off at Kurri on 9:30 am Sunday Morning May 4. $10.00 admission charge will apply to all spectators and drivers over 16 years. Children aged 10-15 will be charged $5.00.  The venue is located at 73-81 Dickson Road, Loxford.

Let the fun begin!
