team press release 6 June 2014

With excellent drivers and teams, the Rotax Max Euro Challenge occupies a place of choice among European karting competitions. The DD2 category in particular includes the sharpest competitors of all disciplines. In this context the Sodi team confirmed the performance of its equipment during the second round of 2014 at Castelletto with Anthony Abbasse's performance to the fore, finishing second on the podium despite an electrical problem in a heat.

The 2014 Rotax Max Euro Challenge season has seen the competition level move up a notch with the arrival of several official factory teams alongside the usual formidable specialists. Of the drivers, the best from the international CIK classes are now racing in DD2. The Euro Challenge can now be considered the benchmark competition in Europe.

A staunch supporter of Rotax racing, the French brand Sodi is racing officially in it's first season in the Euro Challenge DD2 class with its top driver Anthony Abbasse. The whole team are extremely satisfied to be able to fight for victory now at the front of the field. It is a great showcase for the full potential of the Sodi chassis.

The race started well at Castelletto with third, qualifying within 3 hundredths of pole, but Abbasse lost out when he was forced to retire because of a defective battery, while in the lead of his first heat. The French driver relied on the performance of his machine to gradually reduce the gap and join the fight for victory. Always one of the fastest, he still gained five places in the final and has a promising second place to his credit. A more than convincing result which also puts him in fourth position in the championship standings.

Nicolas Picot hasn't gone unnoticed in Rotax Senior. The young French driver is competing in his first full season in the Euro Challenge on a Sodi chassis, and is already able to do well in the top 10. He took 8th position after the heats before maintaining 10th in the prefinal having chosen to save his new tyres for the final. Unfortunately, he had to retire, with steering column broken after a collision at the start of the final.

However, the morale is good for the Sodi drivers, who know they can rely on chassis that are perfectly on the pace and aim to win soon in European Rotax racing.
