Aussie Racing’s Daniel Sayre has taken out the 2014 Central Coast 50-Lap Shootout at Gosford Showground last Saturday night.

It was the first time the young 16 year old could take part in the event. In his first attempt, he won the event in a dominant fashion, leading 37 of the 50 laps.

Daniel started the 50-lap feature from third and dropped back to fourth in the opening stages, before quickly gathering his way back up into second by lap 10.

Mechanical issues to Michael Saller on lap 13 meant that Daniel inherited the race lead, and from then on was never really challenged.

Daniel experienced a “near miss” on lap 23 when a three-kart wreck occurred right in front of him in turn 2. He managed to steer around it, but it was a moment he would rather not have had.

Daniel was untouchable in the second half of the race en-route to his victory.

“It was a crazy race, so many different things going on. But that’s a part of racing; you learn from it and deal with it. But it’s fantastic to get the win,” mentioned Daniel.

Daniel couldn’t thank his sponsors enough after the race for the hard work and effort they continue to put in, “This is awesome. I can’t thank everyone enough, my Dad, my Mum, Grandad. Leon from Aussie Forklift Repairs for everything he does for me. Dean’s Tyre and Brake, Pass Powdercoating, Western Filters, C & A Mobiles and everyone else that helps us out, thank you.”

Luke and Andrew Sayre also enjoyed a successful day in the Junior ranks. They finished second and third respectively in the final race, but it wasn’t without a little bit of family love earlier in the day.

Luke attempted to go underneath Andrew in turn three for third in the opening heat, but as he did so, he spun himself around on the inside of the track.

After a bit of family loving, the boys were back into it during the next heat and ended the day off with a double podium in the final.

All the Aussie Racing drivers will be back on hand at Kurri Kurri Speedway next weekend with a double header on Saturday night and Sunday for the Karts.
