Piastri The Junior Champion of Champions

Oscar Piastri won the Champion of Champions final for Junior Clubman at the Eastern Lions' annual Junior Sprint Classic meeting at Puckapunyal on the weekend. Piastri beat home a class field with Aaron Cameron second, then Bryce Fullwood, Jordan Caruso and Ben Harders taking the top five positoins.

Cadets A

Larkin leads into turn 1 off pole position followed by Phillips and Allen in third. Larkin started to open a gap straight away as Webster and Hanson started to make their move through. Webster makes his way into second with Hansen following him in third while Phillips and Blackwood battled for the minor positions. Hansen makes his way into to second while Larkin continued to streak away. Larkin takes the win with Webster recovering back for second. Hanson moved back to third with Phillips finishing fourth followed by Blackwood in fifth.

Junior National Pro

Donald leads away off pole position from Davies and Montalbano. Montalbano straight away made his move on Davies and went to the lead on lap two with Caruso charging to third. Montalbano, Donald and Caruso all nose to nail until Montalbano started to stretch his gap in the lead. Donald and Caruso started to argue for second while Davies and Venables for fourth. Caruso makes his move into second with Donald arguing straight back. Montalbano takes a convincing win with Caruso holding off Donald for second. Davies come home in fourth with Venables in fifth.

Junior Max

Fullwood jumps away from pole with Hughes slotting into to second with Ford jumping right in behind. The top three all nose to tail with Hughes making a move on lap 4. Hughes and Fullwood start to open up a gap on Ford while Thomas and Pike battle for fourth and fifth. Fullwood makes his way back through at turn 1 a couple of laps later. Fullwood starts to open a slight gap and takes the win over Hughes. Ford has a lonely race in third with Thomas beating home Pike in fourth.

Rookies A

Harders leads away off pole position with Sargent slotting straight into second spot with Burcher behind him. Harders and Sargent start to break away at the front while Burcher battles for third with Sinni and O’leary for third spot. Harders to continue to lead with Sargent close to the back but not being within stricken distance to make a past. O’Leary makes his way to third and starts to break away from the battle pack. Lobko had made his way up to fourth with Best following behind. Harders takes the win from Sargent in second. O’Leary comes home in third from Lobko and Best in fifth.

Cadets B

Wharton takes away of pole position with Williams and Thomson slotting in behind. Wharton leads the early stages with Thomson going through on lap 3. Thomson, Williams and Wharton all had a shot at leading the race with multiple lead changes between all three drivers. Williams and Thomson had many lead changes on the last lap with Williams holding on for the win in a drag to the line. Wharton came home in third followed by a good battle in fourth and fifth between Robotham and Russell.

Junior National Heavy

Donald leads away of the start from Harders and Pike in third. Pike makes an immediate move on Harders and goes after Donald for the lead. Pike makes his way through on lap five with Harders right on the back of the top three. Venables and Guttler battled for the minor spots in fourth and fifth. Donald tried to make his way through on Pike on the last lap but got a bad run with Harders getting through at the bus stop. Pike holds on for the win from Harders and Donald. Venables and Guttler continued to battle with Venables with the latter coming out on top for fourth.

Junior National Light C + D

Westerveld leads away of the start from Moore and Doria at the start opening a big lead in the opening lap. Doria moves to second and starting going in chase of Westerveld. Doria and Moore closed in on Westerveld with Moore making a move for the lead on lap six. Westerveld went straight back through the next lap. All three drivers had a chance at leading the race with Moore opening a slight gap in the final few laps. Moore holds on from a closing Westerveld and Doria in third. Callow had a good battle with Love for the minor spots with Callow coming home in fourth.

Rookies C + D

Best leads away from the start with Fraser slotting ito second spot. Fraser and Best started immediately arguing for the lead with Robotham and Frost closing in on the battle. Fraser to the lead on the lap 5 with him and Robotham breaking away from the chasing pack. There were lots of lead changes between the two with Robotham coming off the circuit while running second. Fraser holds on for a great win with Best recovering for second. Frost comes home in third from Grutteria and Baddely Thompson in fifth.

Junior National Light

Cameron leads off the start with Hollis slotting straight into second with Montalbano behind him. Hollis jumps to the lead on lap three with Montalbano following him through. Montalbano to the lead on lap eight with Hollis back through the next lap. The lead swapped numerous times with an eight kart train forming as they started the final lap. Hollis and Cameron come together at turn four on the last lap while leading. Montalbano comes through for an unlikely win and doubles up at the Junior Sprint Classic. Fraser charged through from eighth on the last lap to second. Davies come through to take third from Piastri and Caruso in fifth.

Junior National Heavy C + D

Ozimek leads away from the start from Woollard and Evgeniades in third. Evgeniades moved to second and started trading fastest laps with Ozimek in the lead of the race. Evgeniades closed and made his move for the lead on lap 8 with Ozimek going straight back through. Evgeniades made a mistake and drop back a tiny bit as Woollard started catching the two of them. Ozimek and Evgeniades come together on the second last corner and Woollard come through to take the win. Creagh com through for an unlikely second with Ozimek recovering for third. Evgeniades was disqualified for his part of the incident with Frencham and Fenton coming home in fourth and fifth.

Junior Clubman

Fullwood leads away from the start with Piastri and Cameron. Cameron goes to the lead on lap two with Fullwood getting shunted back to fifth. Piastri goes to the lead with Hollis following him through. Hollis then drops a chain, Piastri falling back to fifth spot while taking avoiding action. Cameron takes a commanding lead with Fullwood making his way back up to second. Cameron held on from Fullwood to take the win with Caruso taking third. Harders came home in fourth with Piastri staying in fifth.

Champion of Champions

Cameron leads of the start from Fullwood and Caruso with Fullwood making his way through to the lead by the end of the first lap. Cameron back to the lead with Piastri who started fifth up into second spot. Piastri moves to the lead on lap five with Fullwood going to second. Piastri, Fullwood and Cameron all nose to nail pulling away from the rest of the field Piastri still leading with Fullwood slowing down due to a carby problem. Piastri opens a commanding margin in the final few laps and takes the win. Cameron comes home in second with Fullwood recovering for third. Caruso won a battle with Harders for fourth spot.
