Praga Cadet Jett Johnson Finishing The Year On A High

press release 1 October 2014

Queensland’s junior Johnson, Jett, has been firing into the end of the year and his family is so proud of his recent podium at the Queensland Closed State Titles held at Emerald’s excellent new kart track facility.

Starting from 6th in the Final, Jett put down a superb drive in challenging wet conditions bringing home 2nd place.

“As the clouds moved across prior to the Final, I thought we may be in for a wet race, but that didn’t worry me in the least as I love wet racing” said Jett.

“I had started 5th in the pre-final and raced up into 3rd during the race, but then went off into the dirt a little bit swerving to miss a spinning kart which dropped me back a few spots, but still ended up 6th.

“During the Final there were also some nervous moments as I was turned around to face the wrong way on the first corner but I kept my head down and raced on finishing the race in 2nd place.”

The next race for Jett will be at home on the Gold Coast for the upcoming Gold Coast 600 Race of Stars event where Jett will rub shoulders with some of the World’s best international drivers including Praga Karts event team mate Jonathan Thonon.

It will be a busy time cheering on family racers with Steve Johnson racing at Bathurst followed by Jett at Race of Stars and Steve back in the car for Gold Coast 600.

In early November, the Johnson’s will travel to Gladstone for the final round of the Central Queensland Series with Jett going into the final round in the Championship Series lead.

Jett’s dad Steve Johnson is also planning on introducing Jett to some new tracks, possibly in New South Wales before the year ends.

“During our time karting we’ve raced at many Queensland and Northern NSW tracks apart from our home track at Ipswich Kart Club.  Before the race year wraps up we’ll look at a New South Wales race meet to introduce Jett to a new track and southern competitors” said Steve.

Jett has been competing this year in the highly competitive Cadet class in a Praga kart powered by MG Engines and supported by Fineline Fabrications, Crimsafe, Kool Kids, Sandsky Developments, Freem Racewear & Formula Digital.
