Power Halts Gippsland's September Race Meet

  1 October 2014

The Gippsland Go Kart Club's September race meeting on Sunday was interrupted by scheduled work on the overhead high-voltage power lines that span the facility.

The company responsible for the works would not allow karts to circulate on the track below while the works were underway, so the club planned for an extra long lunch break and reverted to the trusty two-heats-and-a-final format. Racing is likely to return to four races per class next month.

The club also had to plan for power cuts in the middle of the day (ironically, unrelated to the overhead works), hiring portable generators to ensure the canteen and lap scorers were able to continue to function.
