Don't get left behind... News Briefs keep you informed

  • The Newcastle Kart Racing Club is calling for expressions of interest to establish an on-site kart shop at the track as a service for club members and the wider karting community. The Club's committee is open to EOI from individuals and organisations that are well placed to manage and operate such a service. The shop will need to be stocked to a minimum level of general parts and be open at agreed times. Closing date for EOI is 31st October 2014. The club's website has also had a complete re-design. Visit the link: www.nkrc.com.au

  • TaG Enduros are returning to Victoria next month. GKCV's annual end-of-year enduro at Todd Road was immensely popular, but has not been run for a number of years now. Saturday November 15 will see the Oakleigh Kart Club host three endurance races for the Kingston Cup: 1.5-hour race for Junior Performance, 1.5-hour race for TaG/Sportsman Restricted, and a 2.5-hour race for TaG/TaG Over 40s that will run into the night under lights.

As such, now is the time to organise your co-driver, get your entry in, recruit a pit crew and work on your race plan! All three enduros must be done with one kart and two drivers coming in at an all-up combined weight. Drivers must complete minimum time and compulsory pit stop requirements. Fields will be capped to the circuit's 36-kart limit. A link to the Supp Regs with all the race rules is on the Race Calendar page.

  • Like many teams and drivers at the KZ World Championships, the ART GP team played homage to Jules Bianchi, their former driver. "We are happy to have honoured the most important competition of the season with some fantastic driving from all our drivers, and we dedicate this weekend to Jules who is still fighting for his life. Forza Jules”, said Team Manager Armando Filini.

  • Statistics can be utilised to prove pretty much anything. In the UK, the sport is on an up at the moment... or falling down, depending which press release you read. karting1.co.uk report the MSA are claiming karting is growing with an increase in entries compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the ABkC (Association of British Clubs) claim numbers have fallen with less licenced karters. Read the full story HERE.

  • An album of almost 50 photos from the spectacular Race of Stars on the weekend can be found on the Coopers Photography Facebook page HERE. Images from the V8 Superfest Parade are HERE.

  • Closing date for entries to the 2014 Tasmanian Sprint Kart Championship has been extended from 17 October to midnight on the 22nd of October (Wednesday night). The event takes place at AWC Kartway at Orielton from 12 to 16 November. Supp Regs can be found HERE.

Further, the addendum (which can be read HERE) includes amendment to the Senior National Over 40s class to read "Class to be run in conformity with the relevant Technical Specifications on the Karting Australia website in all respect s except as set out below . No other changes are permit ted. Driver must be over 40 years of age to enter this karting event or have previously competed in the class under consideration from the SKC of Karting TAS".

  • "Bathurst Win Inspires Next Generation" - that was the headline in the mainstream media for Queensland karter Harrison Hoey in the lead up to Race of Stars. "Seeing Chaz win Bathurst last weekend was very cool," Hoey said. "To be able to see someone that has come from the same area as me and only a few years ago was racing the same karting classes as me win Bathurst was very inspirational." Read the article HERE.

  • "The Story Behind What Made Five-Time V8 Supercar Champion Jamie Whincup" - The Daily Telegraph interviewed Remo Luciani a couple of weeks ago about Jamie Whincup, who raced under the Remo Racing banner in the late 90s. “It’s so much more than just steering" Remo told Nick Walshow. "He can feel exactly what the car needs through the seat of his pants.” Read the full article on the Remo Racing website HERE.

  • Interesting article about Justin Ruggier was published by AutoAction the other month. It can be read HERE. The former Australian CIK-level karter, who still races karts in the endurance scene, is also a leading sim racer in the virtual racing world. This year he's transitioned from successful sim racer to a leading runner in the Shannons Nationals V8 Touring Car Series. The article suggests Ruggier learnt his craft via sim racing. Thing is, Ruggier learnt his craft in karts...

  • An album of images from the final round of the Victorian Country Series at Ballarat on the weekend can be found on Jim Henderson's Facebook page HERE. He reckons he's got a photo of nearly everyone who raced!

  • Clyde Marshall Memorial info:

  • Gold Rush - the more entries, the bigger the prize pool, plus, help send a local racer to the Rotax World Final (see below):

On top of this, there will be other great prizes including a Formula Ford test for one senior racer and lots of prizes to give away across all classes. "Will also be drawing the Bottle-O Ford racing Hot Lap raffle" the club advised KartSportNews. "This is to help Jordan Boys & family with getting to Spain for the Rotax World Final.
