Warwick Closes Out Club Series

Racing returned to Sandy Creek Raceway on the 9th of November with the Warwick Kart Club holding the Final Round of their 2014 Club Championship and the 5th Round of the South East Queensland J-Max Series. Another excellent rollup of 70 competitors ensured all classes had good numbers.

Cadets

The Cadet fields at Warwick have been great all year with many new faces, quite a few who had graduated through the Junior Karters Clinic held earlier in the year. Christopher Christensen was too strong all day and dominated apart from being taken out of the lead in Heat 1. Luke Pink didn’t quite have an answer and finished a close 2nd, whilst Nathaniel Harrison continues his great improvement to finish 3rd overall. Marcus Watson had his first trip up to Warwick to compete and was very consistent to finish 4th, whilst Harry Lawrence did a great job to be 5th overall and 1st P Plater.

Rookies

Some great racing in Rookies seen the results evenly spread, but Michael Philps was the most consistent with a 1st and 3 x 2nd to be the overall winner. Bailey Sagaidak recovered from a 2nd Heat DNF to claw his way back to 2nd overall, ahead of Harrison Stock in 3rd overall. Jared Boys continues to make great progress and was very close to making the podium, whilst Joshua Lawrence was quite impressive in being the 1st P Plater, ahead of Kevin Ryan.

Junior National Light & Heavy

Brieann Moyse and Damon Ash had some great racing at the front of the field, but a DNF by Ash in the Pre Final relegated him to 2nd overall with Moyse a very deserving and delighted class winner. Jarrod Costello struggled at times throughout the day with carby issues but was still strong enough to hold out the mid field pack to finish 3rd overall. Marcos Innes did well in his first race in Juniors to come home 4th overall ahead of an improving Luke Chivers. Jack Keighran was 1st P Plater and Nicholas Currie was the sole Heavy entrant and also continues to show good progress.

J Max

Danial Plant on his home track was in great form and led home an impressive Marc Tulloch and Joshua Davey, all 3 winning a race throughout the day, but Plant was too good in the Final for 1st overall. Rhys Astley and Nicholas Lane were the best of the rest for 4th and 5th.

Qld Sportsman Light

Shane Roberts again emerged on top in Sportsman Light with 3 wins and a 2nd across the day. His biggest challenger again was Luke Thomas with a win and 2 x 2nd but a DNS in the final race relegated him to 4th overall and missing the podium. Adam Nicoletti was the best of the rest and his consistency got him up to 2nd overall, with Peter Nuske’s great drive to 2nd in the Final rewarding him with 3rd overall. Robert Mortensen was very consistent and was a very deserved 5th overall.

Qld Sportsman Heavy

A very big Sportsman Heavy field put on their usual “entertaining” performance with a lot of resultant DNF’s throughout the day. James Christensen was the most consistent and just pipped Perry Evans for 1st overall. Stephen Wilkinson had a great day to just edge out Nathan Pearce and Craig Kittle for the final step on the podium.

The final race meeting for the year at Warwick will be the Non Championship Christmas Breakup meeting on the 13th of December, which will be followed that evening by the Warwick Kart Club Presentation and Christmas Party.
