Karting News Briefs

  23 November 2014

  • Former top Euro karter Clivio Piccione has launched a karting centre in Monaco. Monaco Kart Indoor is built on a 3000m2 area on the first floor of a multi-story building in the Principality. It is regarded as an "indoor-open site" as it has open bays offering stunning views of the Mediterranean. The centre uses a fleet of 17 electric Sodikarts that can can have the power and speed of travel adjusted remotely. Piccione's 'Team Monaco' also competes in traditional sprint kart racing.

  • The new chassis from the Brazilian Techspeed brand will continue to use what has now become a rather unconventional design; the A-frame layout. The image below was taken when the CIK-FIA arrived at the organisation's factory for the homologation inspection last week.

  • Does your kart club need an improvement to facilities? Perhaps some new equipment? Maybe Holden can help with one of their sporting club grants. The organisation says they've "made a long term commitment to helping grass roots sport by giving local clubs the chance to upgrade their facilities with the Holden Home Ground Advantage project." Sporting clubs can apply for a grant of $10,000 or $100,000. Applications are now open, but close on 28th February 2015. More about the scheme HERE.

  • Karting Australia chairman Mick Doohan will race in the International Race of Champions. Mick will once again team up with Jamie Whincup on December 13-14. “I’ve got a kart circuit at home – and as soon as I received the call from (event organiser) Fredrik I went out to practise in my 600cc-engined buggy" Doohan said. "I’ll keep that up as we get closer to next month’s event... I’ll do my best to give those car specialists another shock or two.”
