  • Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club has announced a naming rights sponsor for the season opening Junior Top Guns on January 16 and 17. The event will be known as the “VCM Performance Junior Top Guns” and will be the first major meet at which the new KA100 and Mini Rok engines can be used. Supp Regs can be found via the Race Calendar page. The club will open the track and turn on the lights for practice prior to the meeting (clear visors must be used once the lights are on):
    • Wednesday 14th January, 9:00am to 10:30pm - Unofficial Practice (juniors only - Cadet9, Cadet12, Junior National, Junior Clubman and Junior MAX)
    • Thursday 15th January, 9:00am to 6:00pm - Unofficial Practice – (track open as normal, Juniors & Seniors welcome)
    • Friday 16th January, 10:00am to 2:00pm - Official Practice – VCM Performance Junior Top Guns round 1 (No Seniors)
    • Saturday 17th January, 10:00am  - 2:00pm - Official Practice – VCM Performance Junior Top Gun round 2 (No Seniors)

  • Dirt karter Dylan Ellis, who was almost killed in a road accident late last year, has won the 2015 Waikerie Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year award. "So thankful I can bring positives out of my accident and promotoe road safety through my story" he wrote. Earlier this week, Dylan received medical clearance to enable him to race karts once again.

  • William Yarwood's Project X racing is now an authorised dealer of Ricciardo Kart in Queensland. "Adding Ricciardo Kart to our shop gives karters another option and one that bears the name of the current Formula One superstar" Yarwood said. "We will focus on getting some testing completed before we start racing at the end of January. Our racing programs will be announced shortly which will include Pro Tour under Project X Racing and a new challenge at the Australian Kart Championships" he added. Project X Racing will have all Ricciardo Kart models available. "William brings a vast amount of experience to our brand and the Project X Racing banner will sit nicely alongside all of our existing authorized Ricciardo Kart dealers" said Ricciardo Kart importer, Michael Patrizi.

  • The latest issue of the free-to-view international online publication KartCom News is now live. Click HERE to read issue #8 (66 pages).

  • Kartsport New Zealand will implement a new Judicial Code from May 1st next year. "Members and Officials will soon enjoy a clearer, simpler and faster judicial process that will deliver better results for all parties" the organisaton has published. Read more HERE.

  • Kartsport New Zealand has also detailed a proposed timeline for the introduction of the EVO version Rotax MAX. The organisation says the the programme is considered achievable by Right Karts (NZ importer) and enables Rotax competitors to take advantage of the EVO Kit discounts plus enable new people to the sport (from 1 March) to purchase a completely new Rotax EVO package and immediately use it for club day competition.   • The CIK-FIA has awarded the fuel and tyre contracts for their 2015 events:
    • Fuel - Panta "KART RON 102 Type" will be the only fuel for the CIK-FIA World and European Championships, the CIK-FIA KZ2 International Super Cup and CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
    • Tyres
      • Vega will be used for the 2015 CIK-FIA World Championship and European Championship for KF
      • LeCont will be used for the 2015 CIK-FIA World Championship for KF-Junior and European Championship for KF-Junior
      • LeCont will be used for the the 2015 CIK-FIA International Super Cup for KZ2 and European Championship for KZ2
      • Bridgestone will be used for the 2015 CIK-FIA World Championship for KZ and the European Championship for KZ
      • Bridgestone will be used for the 2015 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

  • The 2015 AIDKA calendar is now available by clicking HERE. The two-page document shows all the meetings clubs have submitted to AIDKA for the upcoming season. "Any amendments clubs may make to their dates will be displayed in the 'meeting calendar' section of the website during the year" AIDKA advise.

  • ekartingnews reports that former F1 winner Rubens Barrichello will race in the upcoming Florida Winter Tour. The Brazilian will race a Rok Shifter kart under the Ocala Gran Prix team banner. Read more on ekartingnews HERE.

  • Mirko Torsellini will be racing Ricciardo Kart in 2015 and will have Alessandro Manetti alongside for technical advice and guidance. A Ricciardo Kart 'open test' will take place at the Siena Circuit in Italy on 17 and 18 January, where drivers from 60Mini to KZ2, plus single-brand categories of Rok and Rotax, can taste the BirelART manufactured chassis.
