The Italy-based OTK Kart Group has set up its own Australian-based organisation to handle the importation, distribution and technical assistance for its products in Australia.
OTK Kart Australia has been established as an importer of OTK branded chassis and related parts in Australia. This mirrors a business model already adopted by OTK in the United States and Asia.
OTK Kart Australia has appointed former National champion Troy Hunt to manage its Australian operation.
“Troy’s deep experience in the local market and unsurpassed technical knowledge is a further sign of OTK Kart’s commitment to enhance its technical support for its valued dealer network and drivers” the organisation said in a statement.
“I’m thrilled to be working with such an iconic and high-quality brand like OTK Kart” Hunt said.
“OTK’s dominance in Europe and in the USA continues to set them apart, and my goal is to replicate that success for our drivers here in Australia by continuing to invest in development and offering superior trackside product and technical support for all our customers”.
The new business will operate from a factory in Seven Hills, NSW. It will soon have available the 2025-spec range of Tony Kart, Kosmic, LN, Exprit, Redspeed, Eos, Gillard and CS55 chassis.
Hunt told KartSportNews the OTK deal has nothing to do with his Top Gun Driver Academy race team, which is a separate, unrelated entity.
“I’m employed to manage OTK Kart Australia” he explained. “This (change of business model and level of investment) shows how important the Australian market is to OTK.”
“OTK Kart Australia is committed to offering a premium after sales support service for its local dealers and drivers including customised product development and enhanced technical support and stock availability at major racing events” the press release continued.
“Local OTK Kart customers will also benefit from direct European factory team support including access to technical knowledge, global race team insights and new products as they are developed. This aims to better equip and empower local dealers with the necessary tools and knowledge to better support their customers, leading to an overall improvement in service levels and race results.”
The deal with International Karting Distributors remains, ie IKD will continue to handle the OTK range of product.
