Successful Shakedown for TWM

The Tom Williamson Motorsport squad headed to Newcastle over the weekend for the AKC Shakedown event.

With Round 3 of the Australian Kart Championship next month, it was the perfect opportunity for our drivers to prepare themselves and their karts before the main show.

The Cameron Park circuit is very technical with big undulation and a challenging layout for drivers to learn. A mega weekend for the Kart Republic family with every class being won by a driver steering either a Kart Republic or FA Kart chassis!

Very proud of the TWM team’s performance throughout the event, both for their results on track but also their growth and development as drivers and as a team.

Highlights for team drivers:

In KZ Sam Dicker took out the final win with BJR’s Macauley Jones coming home in 3rd on his return to shifter karts. The wins didn’t end there, with Oliver Williamson taking the top step of the podium in Cadet 9. Liam Carr continued his success from Perth with a win in Cadet 12 followed by Jackson Brasher in 3rd.

James Anagnostiadis in KA3 Jr and Zac Heard in TAG also went home with a big trophy each. And in X30 Harri Mitchell worked his way up to 2nd before passing the checkered flag. In the elite junior class, KA2, Lewis Cordato snagged the fastest lap in the final and crossed the line 4th.

Special shoutout to Jack Webster, debuting in seniors he was competitive from the get go, battling amongst some of the country’s most experienced X30 front runners. Unfortunately a DNF in the final finished his weekend prematurely, but certainly a weekend of positives for him.

Focus now moves to AKC where we can hopefully carry forward with the momentum.
