Aussie & Indy Drivers

Australians Lochie Hughes and Will Power, plus Indycar racers Josef Newgarden and Kyffin Simpson, contested the Mark Harrison Memorial 200 kart race at New Castle Motorsports Park on the weekend.

Having not been in a kart since 2021, Hughes finished as the best placed Aussie, taking eighth alongside Indy NXT vice-champion Jacob Abel. Power, partnered with Simpson aboard a CS55 kart, was ninth.

20 teams contested the 200-lap race for KA100-powered karts. Strategy was split across two or three stops for fuel – plus tyres if the team wanted.

Most teams were multi-driver affairs, but a couple decided to run the entire 200 laps solo. Vaughn Beesley was best-placed solo driver in sixth, but Chase Jones was on target to place second – until he rolled to a stop with just 8 laps to go with a broken chain.
