from Kev ‘The Noise’ Davies
The chase for an orange plate at the Queensland State Trophy for 4SS attracted over 100 drivers last weekend. It was run at the Ipswich Kart Club due to Cooloola Coast Kart Club’s track being resurfaced at the moment.
Format was qualifying and three heats on Saturday with the third run under lights. Heat four and the finals on Sunday meant a huge number of laps for the drivers competing.
Invitational classes for KA3 Junior and Cadet 12 warmed up the viewing public before the Big Show started, and honestly, some of the most competitive racing I’ve seen in any four-stroke event – and I’ve seen a lot! It just goes to show the lap times don’t need to be 3 seconds a lap faster to be exciting and have you on the edge of your seat! The videos from the weekend certainly show exactly that.
