1000 Laps of Wollongong

The first 1000 lap event for 2008 will be run at Wollongong City Raceway this Saturday.. The event is part of the opening round of the Honda MPE ProKart Australia Endurance Kart Championship.

Starting at 12 midday, the race is expected to run over both day and night conditions until the first team trips the 1000 lap count to take the win.

“The 1000 lapper is a great way to start the year off, and it is certainly going to be a tough to test all the drivers and their teams from the word go,” said ProKart Australia manager, Ryan Stott.

“We have a good line up of teams for the first event, and with it being the first event of the year, it is very hard to pick a winner, so there could be a few surprises at the completion of the 1000 laps.”

Practice and qualifying starts at 9am. Wollongong City Raceway is located near the Kembla Grange race course.
