Scott Rossi Claims First Win of 2008

Canadian pilot Scott Rossi claimed his first victories of 2008 as he moved to the senior ranks to compete at the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) WinterNationals at San Diego’s Quallcomm Stadium. Rossi steered his 125cc TM powered GP chassis to victory in both Saturday and Sunday’s action.

Moving from the Junior Intercontinental A (JICA) class to the 125cc Intercontinental C (ICC) division and being teamed with Vince Mandarino, Rossi would be quick right out of the box during official event practice and would look to challenge for victory. Rossi would utilize a Mandarino TM powered GP chassis as he competed with the Aluminos team for the first time.

In Saturday’s main event, Rossi got a great jump off the line and took the lead early. Running consistent race laps, Rossi would never look back as he was able to hold his challengers at bay to score the victory in the S1 division.

“What a great way to start off in the senior ranks,” stated Scott Rossi from Quallcomm Stadium. “I competed in one shifter event last season and progressed well throughout the weekend. I was actually just hoping to be able to come here to get some seat time and soak up some knowledge from Vince Mandarino. To come away with a victory exceeds my goals for the weekend and I am excited.”

Sunday would prove to be a very different day for SKUSA competitors as rain fell throughout the day. With many drivers pulling out of the race, Rossi took to the track and was the only entrant in the S1 division to do so. Putting on a clinic slick condition driving, Rossi displayed the wet weather abilities of a season veteran to take the win.
