Williamson Makes Solid Debut Aboard Azzurro

Boscotek sponsored driver Tom Williamson made his debut aboard Azzurro at the recent Victorian Open at Geelong. The NSW based karter claimed pole position and a possible blue plate in the Rotax Light class.

Having not seen or heard anything of the Azzurro brand for some time, it was a surprise to see a new one competing in Victoria. The chassis has some rather different features and design philosophy compared to many other karts on the market.

Williamson put the Boscotek Azzurro R6B on pole in Friday's qualifying sessions and followed up with a 1st & 2nd in the heats. Off pole for the pre final, he was punted from behind at the first corner and fell to 6th, however recovered for second by the end.

Tom jumped into the lead at the start of the final and eventually crossed the line 3rd, less than 2s behind the winner after 18 laps. However in post race scrutineering both 1st & 2nd positions have been put in doubt due to alleged motor irregularities. Both competitors immediately appealed their exclusion. If the appeals are lost, Tom will claim the Victorian State Title.
