Britek Scholarship In Full Swing

press release

The Britek Motorsport Scholarship team has made its debut at the opening round of the Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at Sydney's Eastern Creek.

Run by Minda Motorsport, the four-car team was part of a strong 22-car entry at the first of eight rounds to be contested across Australia.

Overseen by V8 Superstar and driver of the #25 Fujitsu Racing Ford Falcon, Jason Bright, the Britek Motorsport Scholarship is a reciprocal business relationship that provides a structured staircase opportunity to aspiring career-path drivers.

The program caters for Karters and aspiring open-wheel drivers that want to move into V8 Supercars or pursue a career overseas.

The stand-out performance came from Adam Graham (Lismore NSW) aboard the #66 McLaughlin Freightlines entry who finished the weekend in sixth place overall.

Martin Swindells (Brisbane Qld) in the #63 Refrigerated Rental & Sales car was placed 14th; Ben Walter (Hobart Tasmania) in the #25 Road Solutions entry was 16th; and Taylor Gore (Geelong Victoria) in the #26 PGM Investments car was 17th.

Minda Motorsport Team Principal Bruin Beasley was pleased with the opening round. "To get all four cars here for the opening round has been a lot of work," said Beasley. "I was very pleased with how the entire group worked. This round was always going to be a challenge as many of our competitors had tested extensively here. We all learnt a lot and everyone from Britek has been very enthusiastic towards the programme. I'm sure that all four drivers will improve and we can look forward to some excellent results this year."

Jason Bright spent time with team over the course of the weekend. "I was very impressed with the weekend," said Bright. "Formula Ford in this country is very competitive and being successful is not easy. Everyone at Minda Motorsport have done an outstanding job and I know that things will continue to grow. Seeing all four cars out on the track in our team colours was a very special moment.

"I look back on my days in Formula Ford and we had to do it all ourselves and had no one to learn from. These guys can talk to me about driving, our engineers about car set-up and track conditions, plus we provide guidance on marketing and PR as well as personal preparation. The real benefits will start to come through in the next couple of events."

Adam Graham was pleased with the weekend, but it's the future events that he's looking forward to. "Eastern Creek was going to be our biggest challenge," said Graham. "So to get it out of the way first-up means we can really concentrate on the events coming up. Having raced for a number of years in karts through to a number of different car categories, I really enjoyed this weekend and being part of the Britek Motorsport Scholarship group. Having people around you that can provide input on all aspects of racing on and off the track is awesome.

"Minda Motorsport has done an outstanding job with all four cars. Not too many racing operations anywhere in the world can say they have such a big commitment.

Also part of the Britek Motorsport Scholarship is karter Scott McLaughlin (Gold Coast - originally from Hamilton NZ) who also spent time with the team over the course of the weekend. McLaughlin is preparing for the Australian Titles outside Launceston on March 21-23.
