Qld Karter To Make Car Racing Debut

press release

Jessica Golding will make her car racing debut in round two of The Genuine Ford Parts Australian Formula Ford Championship at Wakefield Park (Goulburn) next weekend (4-6 April).

The only female in their year's championship, Golding and fellow karter Nick Tanti bring the field to 24 in this year's title chase.

Golding, the first female in more than 20 years to win an Australian Karting National Championship, will join round one winner Brad Lowe and team mate Paul Laskazeski to pilot the third Spectrum for Synergy Motorsport.

"This will be my first race in an open-wheeler so I don't really have any expectations for Wakefield other than get a feel for the car under race conditions, the track and the field," Jessica Golding said.

"Being associated with Synergy Motorsport has really helped my preparations for this weekend.

"We had two test days at Wakefield Park last week and while I had some problems with the car, it was good to have Brad (Lowe) there to jump in the car as he's more familiar with the Spectrum and can better articulate what's going on.

"I'm looking forward to getting out on the track at Wakefield and squaring up the competition."

Wakefield Park also marks the return of Kristian Lindbom to Australian Formula Ford. Joining Sonic Racing, Lindbom replaces young-gun Ben Small in a Mygale - Small instead is concentrating on the Victorian Formula Ford series where he is a top three contender.

After taking out the Victorian State Karting Championship last year, Nick Tanti also joins the field at Wakefield Park in his Spirit - pushing the field out to 24 competitors.

A highlights package from Wakefield Park will be broadcast in the V8 Supercar telecast from Hamilton, New Zealand on the Seven Network.
