Queensland Karting Brothers Join Britek Scholarship

press release

Go-karters Nathan and Justin (pictured below) Garioch of Mackay (Queensland) have become the latest additions to the Britek Motorsport Scholarship.

Winners of various titles across Queensland, the Garioch brothers now have their chance to learn from some of the best people in Australian motor sport.

The Britek Motorsport Scholarship offers career-path drivers the chance to enter into a professional motor sport development program. The program caters for Karters and aspiring open-wheel drivers that want to move into V8 Supercars or pursue a career overseas.

Owned by former Bathurst winner and driver of the #25 Fujitsu Racing Falcon Jason Bright, Britek Motorsport also campaigns the #26 IRWIN Racing Ford of Marcus Marshall.

As part of the programme, the Garioch brothers recently joined fellow karter Scott McLaughlin, as well as Formula Ford racers Adam Graham, Martin Swindells, Ben Walter and Taylor Gore at the Britek Motorsport headquarters in Melbourne for an intensive workshop session.

The Britek Motorsport Scholarship covers many key areas including; sponsorship, public relations, personal development, fitness, technical comprehension, data analysis and engineering.

“It’s a great opportunity to be part of a very professional organisation,” said 18-year-old Nathan Garioch (pic -right). “Already we have been introduced to so many talented people that my head is still spinning. I really do enjoy my racing and I want to make a career out of it. Having all the right people around you is crucial to me achieving that goal. The Britek Motorsport Scholarship is this opportunity and I plan to make the most of it.”

Just 15 months separate the Garioch brothers in age, but they plan to make the most of the Britek Motorsport Scholarship together. “The great thing is we can encourage each other,” said 19-year-old Justin Garioch. “As brothers we are very competitive and this will help as we apply the lessons we learn through the Britek Motorsport Scholarship. There are a lot of talented karters out there who don’t get an opportunity like this. I’m even more determined after visiting the Britek facility in Melbourne to give it 100%.”

2008 marks the Garioch brothers’ first major push outside their state. The 2008 programme included major state title events across the country and the Victorian All-Star Series in the Clubman Light category.
