Festival Of The Kids At Grenfell

AKA press release

The Grenfell Kart Club will host its biggest race meeting of the year next month when the venue plays host to the “Festival of the Kids” as a part of the Bob Hinde Memorial Race Meeting on July 5/6.

This meeting will be held in memory of the late Bob Hinde who was a tireless worker and life member of the Grenfell Go Kart Club.

It will be run as a major event for junior karters with the Midget (comer), Midget(J), Rookies, Junior National Light, Junior National Heavy and Junior Clubman classes all set to compete for great prizes.

“The event is designed for the kids and in memory of Bob Hinde, who was a tireless worker around our club for many years before being tragically taken from us last year,” said event organiser Graham Card.

“He put so much into the sport, especially in the Grenfell region, and the kids brought him a lot of joy. I hope we will have people come from everywhere to compete.”

The Grenfell kart Club is the longest continuously operating venue sanctioned by the Australian Karting Association and to celebrate this fact there will also be a demonstration by the Historic karts throughout the weekend.

There will also be a number of senior categories in action throughout the event including Senior National, Clubman and Rotax in a number of weight divisions along with a special event for the ladies.

The Grenfell circuit is located only four hours drive from Sydney in the centre of New South Wales and with camping allowed at the track along with plenty of accommodation within a short drive, it makes for a great family weekend.

“Karting is a family sport, it’s not just about dropping the kids off to the track and then coming back to get them a few hours later like some parents do in football, the whole family can get involved,” said Card.

“I encourage everyone to come to Grenfell, we’ll also have a family campfire and bush dinner to further enhance the family feel around the place.”

As an added bonus for Canberra Kart Club members, this event will be a round of the Canberra Kart Club Championship.

There will be a major raffle conducted across the weekend with all proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
