WCR Jets Win Taree 500

press release

The Wollongong City Raceway Jets have taken home another win in Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship, after they won the Taree 500 that was held at the Manning Valley Kart Track, near Taree (Mid North Coast), over the weekend (July 5 - 6).

After they qualified in third place, the Wollongong City Raceway Jets (pic below) proved too strong for their rivals and for the team this was their second win of the year, adding to their Wollongong 1000 victory earlier this year.

Making their first appearance on the podium this year was Kart Blanche who finished in second place behind the Wollongong City Raceway Jets. The Kart Blanche team qualified on pole position and also recorded the fastest race lap time over the 500 laps.

Wild Hogs Racing had a good weekend after they qualified in a lowly 10th in the field but managed to fight their way through the field and finish on the podium in third place.

All three drivers on the podium finished on the same lap as one another and that is quite an amazing feat considering that they had battled it out for a total of 500 laps.

Outside the podium finishers were recent Eastern Creek 24 Hour winners Team Kaos, who finished 6 laps behind the podium finishers in fourth place, followed by KBC Racing, Horsepower Racing, SAM Racing, UTEC DBR, P.A.W. Racing, and Team Kart Attack.

The 500 lap race ran smoothly with all 16 teams that entered the event finishing.

There was plenty of media attention over the weekend with newspaper journalists and television crew attending the event.

The next round of the Powered by Honda ProKart Australia NSW Endurance Kart Championship is to be at the Lismore Kart Track (Northern NSW) for the 6 hour race on August 23 - 24.
