Butcher Grabs NSW Speedway Title

press release

Holbrook karter Bronson Butcher put in a dominating days driving to win the Junior National Light class at the NSW Speedway kart championship on Saturday, June 26th.

Beautiful weather at the superb Nepean Speedway greeted the 14 best junior speedway kart drivers in the country, with a large group of vocal spectators. Bronson started the first of 4 heats on pole, seizing the opportunity to make an early break and finishing with an impressive margin.

The only hiccup for the day came in the second heat, with starting positions reversed and the water truck making sure no one was going to come in clean, he charged from rear of field to 5th before running out of tear - offs and having to retire.

The 3rd heat was the highlight for the Kart Equip driver. "I started from 5th and had some well respected racers in front. I had to be patient and wait for the right opportunity to present itself." Bronson made the winning move on the final corner of the last lap. Again in the 4th heat, a similar strategy saw the 15 year old come from 9th to the lead before a full course yellow set up a 2 lap dash to the line. He was able to finish the job though, and take another victory to set up a starting position of 3rd for the 20 lap final.

The feature race saw Bronson go into the 1st corner in second and shortly after, when the leader ran a bit wide, was able to sneak down the inside for the lead. From there he was never challenged and took the chequered flag with a considerable gap. "We had the kart hooked up beautifully all day" a delighted Bronson commented, "It's a great club, a great event and the best drivers. And a confidence boost just 2 weeks out from flying to America to race legends cars."

Bronson would like to thank all his sponsors, and everyone who has helped in the past, including Kart Equip, HJM Race Engines, Rev Arena Karts, Churchill Transport, Back Straight Massage, Morgiania Beef, OGA Marketing, Jayfields Nursery, Kev Mullarvey, Australian Outback Plants - USA, Doc Pearson, Cabonne Honey, The Gammage Family, and Angels Roofing Supplies who sponsored this event.
