Crombie Leaves AMSF / Rising Stars Program

press release

Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) General Manager Quentin Crombie will leave his position effective Wednesday 3rd September, leaving the organisation in a strong position heading into 2009.

Crombie informed AMSF Directors of his resignation last month after working with the AMSF and its founder, the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) for over five years. Crombie has been responsible for the CAMS Rising Star and AMSF International Rising Star Programs since their inceptions.

Crombie has accepted a role in international motor sport working for the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety in Paris, France as head of its Education and Excellence Programmes. The FIA Institute, of which CAMS is a member, is chaired by Professor Sidney Watkins, a world renowned figure in motor sport safety.

AMSF Chairman Tom Warwick congratulated Crombie on his achievements with the Foundation.

“Quentin’s approach to this role has always been with passion and dedication, and I thank him for his achievements and efforts in the previous 12 months,” said Warwick.

“In particular the Rising Star programs have gone from strength to strength and I’m sure it won’t be too long until one of our drivers makes it to the top. We wish Quentin well in his new role.”

Crombie’s time at the helm of the AMSF saw the development of their first strategic plan, a 50 percent increase in the number of its major donors, as well as some major on-track achievements both in Australia and abroad.

“I’m pleased to have played a part in re-inventing the AMSF and it has been greatly satisfying to have already achieved many of the elements in our new strategic plan,” said Crombie.

“The greatest pleasure for me has been working with and watching the young drivers in our Rising Star Programs grow and succeed, particularly on the international stage.

“I am deeply passionate about motor sport, and I’m ready to embrace this next challenge, but very much look forward to maintaining my ties with Australian motor sport.”

The AMSF Board is now investigating finding a replacement for Crombie, to ensure that the success and momentum from the last 12 months continues uninterrupted. In the meantime, Brock Rogers, AMSF Operations and Projects officer will manage the day-to-day operations of the Foundation including both Rising Star Programs.
