Rotax Pro Tour For 2009!

On the eve of the 2008 Sparco Rotax Nationals, Australian Rotax importer/promoter IKD has announced a "Rotax Pro Tour" for 2009.

The Pro Tour will consist of a group of race meetings held at top circuits along the eastern sea board of Australia. It will commence in May 2009 and will be for between four and six races.

The Pro Tour will not actually be a 'series' as such. All of the events will carry 'Level 2' scoring for the National Rotax Rankings.

Details will be published on the IKD web site and in the karting media when locations are finalised.

The Pro Tour will be designed to ‘lift the bar’ for kart race meetings in Australia. The meetings will be run by the clock, will use transponders, will offer heaps of practice, racing and prizes and will be designed to provide the highest levels of competition possible to hone karter's skills.

Only six classes will be offered:

  • Junior National Light
  • Junior Rotax
  • Rotax Light
  • Rotax Heavy
  • Rotax Over 35
  • Open (DD2 engines only)

The Pro Tour will be an integral part of the selection process (via the rankings system) for determining the invitees to the 2009 Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final.

In 2009 the rankings system will be slightly modified to include the Pro Tour as follows;

Level 1 – Rotax Nationals
Level 2 – Pro Tour
Level 3 – State Titles
Level 4 – all other events

Full details on the Pro Tour will be available for download on the IKD web site
(www.internationalkarting.com.au) from 15th September 2008.
