The "Speed Week" is ready to start at La Conca International Circuit that from next September 18th to 21st will be the centre of international karting with the running of CIK-FIA KF1 World Championship and KF2 World Cup. The most important championship in this sport, consisting of a single round, is held in turn on the top circuits in the world. It's therefore important to point out that the sporting complex in Muro Leccese, near Lecce, in its still short lifetime seeing that it hasn't yet reached ten years of activity, will host CIK-FIA World Championship for the third time.

La Conca International Circuit has earned the best esteem from the CIK-FIA also thanks to the careful planning as well as accurate organization of every event organised by La Conca Sporting Club. As a matter of fact, the week preceding World Championship, from 10th to 12th, all the top international teams will liven up the complex near Muro Leccese for a session of collective tests dedicated to the 150 registered drivers to the forthcoming world racing weekend.
Every leading manufacturer of the karting industry like Birel, CRG, Maranello, Tony Kart and Zanardi, has announced the attendance of the relative official teams with their most updated karts. Besides tyre manufacturers Bridgestone, Dunlop and Vega are scheduled to support teams by supplying the participants with their products. In addition to this the organization will provide a timekeeping service that will contribute to improve the technical importance of this three day test session, thanks to the presence of Italian Timekeeping Federation. The race timing, sure enough not giving an official classification, will be just a valid and complete tool of comparison for teams and drivers.

As from its first edition, won by Guido Sala (Tecno-Parilla) in 1964, World Karting Championship counting this year 45th edition, crowned several Formula 1 top champions. The outgoing champion is the driver from Brescia Marco Ardigo, the first to win the world title for the new category KF1 during the new technical direction of international Karting. KF2 World Cup has instead a shorter history and only in recent seasons takes place in conjunction with KF1 World Championship. Its latest champion is Belgian Michael Ryall, winner in 2007 in Mariembourg (B) and competing this year for KF1 title.
