Local Lady Racer Aiming High At NSW State Championships

AKA press release

Rebecca Brown is a young lady who has a thirst for speed and is never afraid to take on the boys at their own game.

After first driving a car on the family farm at the age of five and her Father previously racing karts it was inevitable that Rebecca would one day find her way onto the kart track.

“As a young girl I remember watching Dad racing dirt karts and then seeing his kart hanging up in the shed which always made me want to get out and race,” said Brown.

“I was a bit scared at first but now I’ve got no fear when I get behind the wheel of a go-kart.”

Over the past few years Brown has developed into one of Australia’s top female drivers and will this weekend be competing at the New South Wales Karting Championships sponsored by PDL Electrical on her home track in Port Macquarie.

Already having won a title at the All Ladies Event at Lithgow in January the first year Certificate in Retail student is aiming for a top result against some of the top drivers from across the country at this weekend’s Event.

“The win at the All Ladies event would have to be the highlight of my career so far but now I want to get a good result in an open state championship where the best drivers from everywhere come to race,” said Brown.

“My first aim will be to finish inside the top ten, my Dad and good friend Tracy Stewart believe that I can finish inside the top five, but I’ll just be going out there and do the best I can.”

Brown will be competing in two categories at this weekend’s Event, Senior National Light and 125cc Rotax Light, and hopes to one day follow in the footsteps of IndyCar Series star Danica Patrick and Formula 3 competitor Leanne Tander to make a career out of motorsport.

The Wauchope teenager is supported in her karting career by the Buzzard Racing Team, PDL Electrical, Solutions, Woodgate Engines, Browns Transport and Pamex Transport.

A total of 375 entries have been received across 13 categories for the Championships. This is the first time the Wauchope venue has hosted an event of this magnitude and it provides the opportunity for the local drivers to test their skills against the best in the country.

Qualifying will be held on Friday with heat races will be held on Saturday and the championship finals contested on Sunday.

The Pacific Park Kart Racing Circuit is located at 199 Pacific Parkway, Cowarra Forest via Wauchope.
