Strongman Grabs 35-Lapper At Southern City Classic

press release

Spectators at the Southern City Classic were treated to some exceptional driving as the Rookies battled it out in the 35 lap enduro when Oakleigh celebrated 50 years over the weekend.

Damon Strongman, Ricky Capo, Thomas Randle and Blaine Densley (in the order they finished), sprinted away from the rest of the field of 19 Rookies, with almost a 5 second lead.

The four drivers worked together for the entire 35 laps and with only 1 lap to go DP Karts driver Damon Strongman executed a brilliant move and passed the other 3 drivers in one corner and then sprinted away to take  the chequered flag.  Strongman also fired off the fastest lap of the race.

The final race of 15 laps was more like a sprint compared to the enduro, again Densley, Randle, Capo and Strongman sprinted away from the field.  With 4 laps to go Blaine Densley pulled away from the other 3.  Capo dropped back leaving Randle and Strongman to work together to catch Densley.  The boys went across the line almost side by side with Blaine Densley 1st, Thomas Randle 2nd and Damon Strongman 3rd with Damon again taking out the fastest lap.

Damon Strongman would like to thank the Oakleigh Go Kart Club for a fantastic event, and Craig from DP Karts as well as Frankston Bearings.
