With two wins in the two championship races held on Sunday October 4 and with title rivals Chryss and Russell Jamieson absent, Carlo Chermaz swept to victory in the third round of the Queensland Superkart Championship, along the way wrapping up the defence of his 2007 Championship crown in the Buildersmile Construction PVP.

While the points battle might have ended a forgone conclusion, the racing itself was not as easy as emerging young Queensland talent Vince Livaditis aboard the Webbys Cable Solutions Stockman-Honda pushed Chermaz hard across the weekend, but ultimately would finish second to Chermaz in each of the races.

125cc honours were shared around, with young Sean Whitfield taking pole position for the class, the reigning Australian Junior Non-Gearbox Champion qualifying impressively third fastest behind Chermaz and Livaditis on his debut in 125cc gearbox racing, racing one of Brian Stockman's 'factory' Stockman-Hondas, some eight tenths faster than National series 125cc protagonist Jason Smith. The weekend ended early after Whitfield struck the pit wall on the front straight early in the first race of the weekend. After some initial concerns Whitfield suffered only minor injuries.

Tim Philp (George Floth Engineering Stockman-Honda) won the class in the first championship race ahead Barry Kunowski (Team Electric Orange Stockman-Honda) and Brian Wild (N&Q Motor Repairs Topkart-TM) after some fierce early dicing with Phil Silcock (Rockpress Metal Stockman-Honda) and Cameron Hoswell's 250 International PVP-Yamaha also involved. In the second race John Hay's Sodi SR4 TM raced through the field to take the class win from Kunowski and Wild, after both Philp and Jason Smith (Cougar Evo1 Honda) struck problems.

David McAdam's Hypermax Rotax Max raced impressively, winning class and racing at the tail of the gearbox 125s finishing ahead of the CRG Maximo Rotax of Robert Aston in both races and the 80cc gearbox Traffic Management Systems Gladiator of Lindsay Jamieson.

It was the final runs for Chermaz, Philp, Smith before the National Series finale at Mallala Motor Sport Park with Chermaz in contention for the 250 International title and Smith and Philp both chasing the 125cc podium positions. The Queensland Superkart Club pointscore still has one more round to go in November before the season wraps.
