Matthew was in contention to win almost every Junior National Light (JNL) race he entered in 2008.  The highlights were the two State Titles, 2nd in the Australian Nationals (after starting 23rd in the final) and 2nd at the City of Melbourne Titles (also having to start the final in 24th) and 2nd at the Puckapunyal Junior Sprints.  Matthew also ran in the Junior Clubman division scoring pole and 4th at the QLD State Titles, 5th at the NSW State Titles and finishing second in points for the Premier State Cup Series.

Matthew drove an Arrow Kart for the DP karts Team based in  Clayton Sth, Melbourne. "I would like to thank DP Karts for all their help this year especially with the engines, to win two State  Titles and 2nd at the Nationals was an awesome result.  Also to Santa Cruise Finance for their support and Blugreen for their help with my website,"  Matthew said.

Matthew also had a wonderful opportunity to test a Formula Ford firstly with Howard Racing at Morgan Park in QLD, and then a few weeks later with Minda Motorsports at a very wet and soggy Winton Raceway in Victoria.

Matthew posted some very creditable times considering his lack of experience especially in very difficult conditions at the rain soaked Winton test.

"My Formula Ford experience was fantastic and a big thank you to Mark Howard from Howard Racing and Bruin Beasley from Minda Motorsports for giving me the biggest thrill I have had in my career.  It gave me a lot of confidence for the future and I cannot wait to have another drive," Matthew enthused after.

"Next years plans are still in the planning stages at the moment but hopefully they will be sorted soon, but what ever they are I am already looking forward to racing again in the new season."
